I am a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and Health and Care Professions Council registered Practitioner Psychologist (HCPC).  I am a Chartered member, Associate Fellow, and Clinical Psychologist specialising in Psychotherapy, with the British Psychological Society (BPS).

I have worked in Mental Health since 2001 in a wide range of clinical settings including Secondary care (Community Mental Health Teams), and Specialist Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Services (Tertiary care), Older People’s (Dementia) services, Learning Disabilities, and with children in a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Service. I have undertaken International Core Training in ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy) with internationally recognised Clinical Psychologist, Dr Josette ten Have-de Labije, and Dr Kees Cornelissen (in Berlin and The Netherlands), and I am a member of IEDTA (International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association). I am part of an ISTDP Advanced Core Supervision Group in Berlin, Germany, with Dr Josette ten-Have de Labije. I completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Birmingham in 2009. I have trained in REBT (2009 - from the Albert Ellis Institute, USA). I completed a Master’s degree in Psychology in 2002 and also worked in Primary Care Mental Health, training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and have a Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health.  I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing), am an Accredited EMDR Practitioner and member of EMDR Association UK & Ireland. I am also very experienced in mindfulness, compassionate mind, and meditation practices. I worked in the NHS in Mental Health for 15 years but now work in Private Practice full time.

I provide psychological assessment and psychotherapy to adults with complex mental health difficulties including people who have experienced significant trauma/PTSD, early childhood trauma, personality and attachment difficulties, depression and anxiety, relationship problems, eating disorders, substance misuse, bereavement and loss, identity issues, sexual problems, physical health problems and medically unexplained symptoms/somatic problems and chronic pain. I provide clinical supervision to Clinical Psychologists and psychotherapists. I have taught on the Birmingham Doctoral programme on the specialist module in Psychodynamic therapy over a number of years.

I have an established private practice in Acocks Green, Birmingham and Solihull offering assessment and psychotherapy to people for a wide range of problems. Every person is unique and therefore therapy is adapted to the particular experience and needs of the individual. As an experienced Psychologist and Psychotherapist I am skilled in drawing upon creative and ancient methods combined with modern scientific understanding to help people unlock their buried unconscious feelings with compassion and precision.  Through careful inquiry the unconscious roots of painful emotions can be unearthed and transformed causing profound shifts in insight. This also involves drawing upon an individual’s felt sense and intuitive wisdom to understand, re-discover and finally liberate themselves from past trauma and pain and in that process have a much richer and deeper understanding of themselves.

My psychotherapy consulting rooms are based in Acocks Green, Solihull and Kings Heath, with easy connections to Birmingham City Centre, Warwickshire, Knowle, Hall Green, Moseley, Edgbaston, Leamington and Coventry.
